- 6 July 2005 - Olympic
success will boost
construction - London's successful bid for the Summer
2012 Games will bring enormous economic and social benefits to both the
south-east region as well as other venues where events will take place says
bpl's Finance Controller, Kevin Cole. Kevin, a resident
of Weymouth says "The sailing events will be based at the newly opened
£7.85M Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy. The momentum
created by this news, together with the extra spending power generated will
help to transform the town after the shocks suffered by the naval withdrawal
in the 1990s. From our offices at Poundbury, just to the north of
Weymouth, we are looking forward to being part of this exciting future.
In addition, our national conveyancing centre, acting with developers and
home buyers, will be actively involved in the opportunities created in the
Lower Lee Valley in East London, where the main olympic campus will be
sited".

web-based services says bpl's Director of Operations Chris May. "According to the latest figures from the Organisation for Economic
Cooperation and Development (OECD) * the UK had 6.25 million broadband
connections at December 2004 - almost double that of 2003. There is
still room for growth - the UK has only 40% of the level attained by South
Korea. As more and more of our clients are demanding services
over the web, so we will be investing more in the provision of these
services. We have a number of novel ideas which we are currently
developing with major national players in the property arena which will come
on stream over the next few months". *

Property Search Agents see light at end of tunnel
-
Adam
Moorhouse of Moorhouse Property Search, one of the south-west's
premier house search agencies, says that there is relief for home owners.
Adam says "Whilst recent months have seen some price corrections,
particularly across southern England, market activity has picked up
substantially since the beginning of January. Whilst house prices may
not see the gains that have been made in the past few years, if sellers have
realistic expectations then there is no reason for homes not to sell
readily. Whilst there has been a shortage of quality residential accommodation
across all areas of the country recent weeks have seen a marked increase in
the numbers of sellers and buyers. With an optimistic mood, arising from
the forthcoming election, the outlook looks better than it has for several
months". For further details of Moorhouse Property Search

Financial Services Authority changes affect insurance mediation
- from today new regulations imposed by the
FSA govern how solicitors deal with title insurance policies. Chris
May, bpl's Director Operations says "We have been planning
for the rules for several months and have altered our procedures including
developing a new Clients Charter for cases involving title insurance.
Typically these involve cases where documents may have become missing,
including planning documents, or there is a defect on the legal title to the
property. We are also working closely with online insurance
providers so that in cases where policies are required these can be issued
almost instantaneously - the whole idea being to speed up the conveyancing
process and avoid cases becoming bogged down".
